Hi Everyone here! Congratulations to those who have been admitted by Baruch!

I'm appliying for MFE at Baruch too. I submitted my application in December (online part) and supporting documents in early January.

Since then I received mails from Graduate admission informing me that I still need to submit official TOEFL score, which I thought I would waive cause I have MS degree at US. I requested it from ETS, but have't heard from Baruch since then. I called Cathy last week, seems she's not sure if they got my TOEFL score or not (seems she's really busy), but assured me it shouldn't affect them reviewing my application. Should have read Andy's post about ignoring TOEFL waiver earlier. :-ss

I'm anxious about my application since there are already someone getting interviews and admission, could someone here help me with application status, such as how to contact admissions, (Andy mentioned Nelisa, how can I reach her?)

BTW: here's my profile, evaluation and suggestion will be appreciated!

My Profile

Education: BS in Physics (Fudan Univ. China) and MS in Physics (Drexel Univ. US)
Currently PhD student at Drexel, expecting to graduate this summer

GPA :Undergraduate major: 3.1, minor 3.5 (in International Economics)
Graduate: 3.9

GRE: 800(Q),730(V),4.0 (AW)
TOEFL:112/120 (iBT)

Work Exp:Worked as senior eCommerce analyst for IT service company for 1 year

Financial Exp: Exposure to Finance in minor program during undergraduate. currently studying (options, futures and other derivatives)

Programming:C/C++, Matlab and FORTRAN, Visual Basic (solving partial differential euation, Monta-Carlo simulation, Runge-Kutta integration)

I'm aslo interested about the format of interview. Will Dan make appointment before interview? What is the interview mainly about? Can those who have been interviewed share your experiences?

Thanks a lot!

Andy

Hi there,

The info about TOEFL waiver for US-based college degree holders has been on our website for a long time but apparently, it's no longer applicable. That's the cause of many confusion. It has been removed/updated to prevent further complication.

The students who got interviewed and offered admission have submitted their applications before you so it's a case of first come, first served. Baruch will only make official decision when the application is completed.

They may evaluate applications if they have copies of GRE/TOEFL while officials scores are arriving. Again, no official decision will be made until all official papers arrive.

We are working on an online application status system. Prof. Stefanica will announce it as soon as it's ready. You will see it here first.

In the mean time, contact Nelisa at nelisar@gmail.com if you have question about your application.

Hi, you have a strong profile, and keep following up with Cathy and Nelisa. I think many of the admitted students should applied earlier than you, and don't be too worried about that.

I got my formal admission letter in April last year. So, be patient. If you are the right candidate, Dan will hold the door open. :)

To answer your question, I personally feel that the interview is an important opportunity for Dan to get to know you a little bit better as a unique individual, fit for the program or not... Be yourself is the best strategy for everyone!

Thank you Nelisa for your message. And sorry for sending email to your personal box.
I'm notified that the decision has been made, but I haven't received interview. I'm afraid it might not be favorable result. Is there anyone who got admitted without interview?
