I noticed in my wanderings around the city, the "New York Sports Club" and wondered if Baruch has similar sporting clubs for graduate students. I am also interested in joining a rowing (sculling in particular) and/or a sailing (preferably laser) groups or club, hopefully it is not too expensive.

The Chinese Summer Festival is on, tomorrow, in Flushing, and there will be a dragon boat race. Should be quite interesting.

If there is any one of you who's interested or a member or in the know, appreciate your feedback. I could ask in a general forum, but would like some pointers from you guys and gals first.

I recall there was mention about getting Broadway tickets with the student ID.

Cheers.

Baruch has a very good sport center with pool, gym, etc. You should definitely go for that. And it's cheaper too. For New York Sports Clubs you will pay about $85 per month with one year commitment. As far as I know for Baruch's sports center you pay only $250 initiation fee. Then you can use it unlimited. I might be wrong on that, but I'm going to find out more later on, because I want to join.

A quick search of the internet:

http://www.chelseapiers.com/

http://www.adirondackwatersportsgroup.com/

http://www.kayakhudson.com/

Some of these events are pretty good. Is the Hudson accessible by just renting the canoes/kayaks/etc? Or do we have take their courses? I like chelseapier, anyone who has been there?
