View Full Version : It's HOT...HOT...HOT
It's 102F outside right now in the Bronx. Luckily, the summer class I'm teaching ends tomorrow. They offer me another class next week but i seriously doubt I'll take it.
I need to run from the heat...maybe going somewhere cooler and recharge my energy before the real courses begin :smt117
How do you cope with the heat?

You guys are lucky. My class ends at 12pm.. :smt019 and then walking back out, standing on the street, waiting for the 2 overcrowded buses...
Yay, I love my job... :- ...my students have it worst. I drill them for 3 hours straight everyday, no break and then the hot sun takes the rest out of them. :smt010
I guess we gotta do our job, whatever it takes, no complain. I feel bad for those working outdoor all day long. Fortunately, the forecast for Friday is 86F...nice and easy.
Should I take the beach, Bear Mountain or go to Lake George ? \:D/

It depends how you define "lucky". I need to take a walk in the sun and open air around lunch time. I don't care how hot it is, I just can't stay indoor and face the computer all day long w/o a break. (LET ME OUT, LET ME OUT, PLEASE!!!) :smt033

NO!!!! Andy, that ice-cream dose not look good to me -- too much, and it makes me feel dizzy and sleepy :smt015 . Ok, I guess it's time for me to step out of the office for awhile.

lake george is great - when i was younger, my family and I would go up to that area every summer - i did that for almost 12 or 13 consecutive years

Lake George is terrific, we went there last year for a long weekend...beach won't do any help for this temperature.
But when I called my family in China (south China), my father said:"How can you complain about the weather? You grew up in the area with average summer temperature of 96F, and we did not have AC at that time....Don't forget, your mom and I have been working for 40+ years in rooms without AC, never mention those still working outdoor now...."
:smt020 So I should be satisfied when I can stay in ac room and working on probability :smt034 (THe AC in my apt. has been on since the day before yesterday.)

Oh I love Yan's grateful attitude, good girl, good girl. :smt056
Kids, stop complaining -- just think about poor kids in Africa (they barely have enough strength to worry about food alone, despite the fact that it's really, really, really hot in Africa.)
We need to keep reminding ourselves for what we've been granted.
Lest we forget.
PS. Please do drink lots water and take good care of yourself though. :)
Just got this short note from my friend Tricia Nguyen

Hi guys,
Just found out Starbucks is giving free ice coffee today. Enjoy and hope it will keep you cool from this evil heat.
So, run...run....run....get that free coffee now :drinkers:
