To know the status of your interview

How many days after the interview one should contact the employer to know the status ? Does it matter ?

If you get the interviews through headhunter or HR people, then you can contact them instead of the interviewers.
I would say 2 weeks is appropriate. 2 weeks is a blink of an eye at work and people seem to forget things very fast so you definitely want to touch base with them.
