Yanniv Avitan holds a BA in Accounting and Economics from Ruppin Academic Center, Israel. Upon graduation he worked as a Financial Auditor for the Government of Israel’s Ministry of Defense in their New York City office where he audited financial reports and analyzed the Financial Department’s activity. At his current position as a Financial Analyst he forecasts long-term operating and purchasing budgets to facilitate multi-year budget planning; prepares a monthly cash flow and budget allocation reports for Ministry of Defense executives, plans future procurements and loans, performs variance analysis, and reports to senior management. Yanniv plans to work in an investment bank or hedge fund after completion of the program.

Hien Nguyen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he graduated cum laude. Upon graduation, he spent over a year at PaineWebber (now part of UBS) as a Web developer. Hien later joined Goldman Sachs and is currently a Senior Software Developer. He develops software to calculate different risk measures for the entire firm's trading desks. He joined the AMF program in the fall of 2005 to further improve his knowledge in the area of financial engineering. Hien plans to use his training in the program to obtain a quantitative development position or work in risk management. In his free time, Hien enjoys playing with his cat, Java, named after the programming language he uses at work. Hien also enjoys eating out and watching HGTV.

Ben Birnbaum holds a degree in Mathematics and Music from the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated cum laude and was a Benjamin Franklin Scholar. During the summer of 2006, Birnbaum interned on the Structuring Desk at Vero Capital Management where he worked with various aspects of structured products. He also designed and populated several Access databases to track data on ABS originators, servicers, and collateral managers. Ben is set to graduate this December and plans to obtain a position as a market risk analyst at a buy- or sell-side firm. Ben is a lifelong amateur double bassist and is currently the principal bass for the New York Repertory Orchestra. Ben has also completed recordings for film as well as performances at the Music Festival of the Hamptons, Mannes College of Music, and Radio City Music Hall.

Vladimir Voronov holds a Bachelor of Business Administration summa cum laude from Baruch College, where he ranked 3rd in his graduating class. Vladimir joined the program in September 2005 and is set to graduate this December. He has worked as a summer associate in the Treasury and Risk Management department at Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce where he used Excel/VB.NET and C++ to develop and implement Monte Carlo simulations, risk models for vanilla, and exotic derivatives. His responsibilities also include presentation and writing reports on general economic trends, individual corporations, and entire industries and their risk profiles. After graduation, Vladimir hopes to obtain a position where he can develop and implement pricing models for derivatives.

Bharath Govindarajan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with First Class from the University of Madras, India. Prior to the AMF program, Govindarajan received the Runner up Project of the Year Award as a programmer-analyst at Cognizant Technology Solutions, where he saved AT&T over $350k annually by Web-enabling financial applications and consolidating servers. Bharath interned in the summer of 2006 as a financial software developer at Bloomberg L.L.P in their Credit Derivatives Application group, where he was responsible for integrating state-of-the-art pricing libraries using design patterns and multithreading. He was also the second place winner in the 2006 Interactive Brokers Trading Olympiad with 83% return using self-developed models. After the program, Bharath plans to seek a position on the prop trading desk at a quantitative strategies group. In his free time, he enjoys swimming and reading comic books and technical reviews.

Yiping Zhang, a former CUNY Presidential Scholar, graduated summa cum laude from The Honors College, CUNY, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a minor in Business. A first–prize winner in the Chinese National Mathematics Olympiad Competition, Yiping has interned in the Service Oriented Securities Architecture (SOSA) project for The Bank of New York (BNY), where she specified message and screen interfaces for the clearing and settlement services of U.S. government and agency securities between BNY and the Depository Trust Company and the Federal Reserve. She also produced system use case reports for review by subject matter experts at BNY. Yiping is set to graduate in December, 2006, and plans to obtain a position in structured finance at an investment bank. In her free time, Yiping enjoys watching movies, reading and swimming.

Patrick Moran is a holder of the CFA Charter as well as a member of FRM, PRMIA. He has worked as a risk management intern at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage in Capital Markets Groups and also at Columbia Management Group as a risk manager. Patrick received an MBA in finance from Washington University in St. Louis and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Chicago. After college, Patrick worked as a trader at Keystone Trading where he obtained an exchange membership and traded in the S&P 500 options trading pit on the floor of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. He hopes to obtain a position in quantitative investment management. Patrick enjoys traveling, working out and spending time with family.

Eugene Liberman hopes to obtain a quantitative position where he can develop new pricing methodologies for financial products. He has worked at Lehman Brothers as an intern in their Risk Management IT department where he developed discrete, auxiliary programs to alleviate daily support tasks and implement risk management reporting frameworks for equity, fixed income and the derivatives business. He also supported risk managers globally; he traveled to Tokyo to roll out the LehmanRisk, a risk management platform. Eugene holds a BBA degree in Computer Information Systems from Baruch College, CUNY. He enjoys working out, playing hockey, reading and taking pictures.

Jamie Reilly is a Senior Risk Modeling Specialist at Prudential Financial, where she is responsible for the daily oversight and ownership of the newly established Hedge Effectiveness Unit. She also works with other Prudential units in evaluating applications of appropriate Hedge Accounting to new classes of securities. Jamie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics with a track specialization in Statistics from Montclair State University. She plans to use her mathematical training and experience in the areas of risk modeling to obtain a position in a hedge fund. Jamie enjoys reading, cooking, outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

Dmitry Zolotarevsky holds a BBA in Finance and Investments from Baruch College, CUNY. He works at Western Asset Management Company as a Manager of Portfolio and Risk Analysis where he is responsible for firm-wide daily risk reporting and data integrity of analytics. His responsibilities include various ad hoc projects such as Tracking Error, Sensitivity Analysis, and Performance Attribution Analysis. After graduation, he plans to seek a position as a portfolio manager. In his free time, Dmitry enjoys reading, traveling, running, and judo.
