My dear freshman, lucky for us, Baruch is near many diverse restaurants. Here is a list of a few of them. You should take note of these places, you may find yourselves chilling here with friends between classes for the next four years.

Subway (61 Lexington Avenue, 32 East 23rd Street)

If you're looking for a healthy meal, Subway is the answer. Their daily special is only $2.49 for a 6 inch sub. Be sure to use your ID card for a student discount. It's $4.99 (plus tax) for a 6 inch value meal.

Golden Krust Carribean Bakery (111 E 23rd St)

This place has all the Jamaican favorites, like jerk chicken and beef patties. The dining area is small though, so it's best to get take-out.

Wendy's (26 E 23rd St)

Come here for old-fashioned burgers. Their dollar menu has some pretty good choices, like a baked potato, junior bacon cheeseburger, meaty chili, and a cool, ultra-thick Frosty.

Shake Shack (Madison Square Park)

NYC's best burgers are in our own backyard! Try the 'Shroom Burger ($4.15), cheeseburger ($3.69) and cheese fries ($2.54). The floats are also delicious and plentiful ($3.92).

Pax (303 Park Ave S)

Fresh, gourmet food. Some good choices are the eggplant parmigian pressata, ($5.95), and the Siciliano Prosciutto. There's also delectable bakery treats. A snickers bar treat is $2.95, while a slice of cheesecake is $4.25.

Osaka (352 3RD Ave)

Come here for cheap Japanese food. Their hand rolls are 50 percent off everyday from 12-8 p.m. They also have bubble tea and fried ice cream, so no need to go to Chinatown!

Curry in a Hurry (119 Lexington Ave)

Can't make it to Jackson Heights? Well, we have a little India right next to Baruch. Their huge combination platters come with meat, naan, rice, a vegetable side dish. A good choice is the chicken tikka marsala ($9.99). If you dine in, they have free salad bar upstairs, and they show Indian music videos. Also try a chicken samosa ($1.25), and the "jalebi" - a sweet pretzel shaped pastry with syrup inside.

7-Eleven (107 E 23RD ST)

From coffee, to on-the-go meals, to their famous slurpees, 7-Eleven has all your snacking needs.

Popeye's (75 Lexington Ave)

For some Cajun style cookin,' Popeye's has everything covered, from their delicious fried chicken, to sides like dirty rice, biscuits, and mash potatoes.

Push Cafe (294 3RD Ave)

This cool hang-out is a coffeehouse/bar that also serves up Mediterranean/Israeli food. They even have live music on certain nights and are open late. A cafe; latte is $4.50, and Chai tea with ice cream pleases.

Fresco Tortilla Grill (36 Lexington Ave)

This place is cool to get a quick take out lunch. For $5 you get a plate of juicy meet, Mexican rice, and black beans, and fresh tortillas.

Yi's Freedom Mart (23 Lexington Ave)

This mart has everything you need, from snacks to drinks. Their hot buffet food is sold by the pound, and has some delicious items like fried chicken and broccoli with cheese.

I like the street vendors around Baruch (I'm a big GYRO/Falafel fan). There is a guy with a street car on Lexington selling Halal food, at the corner of Baruch Way (25th). I'm a big fan of his food. Just tell him Andy send you :smt023 . He is very nice, friendly and likable.
I always have regular rice with lamb or chicken or a combination of both, some mixed salad, pour in lot of babercue sauce, some hot sauce...
They got me through the evening class very well...too well in fact :smt015

And while someone at it, what is a good, affordable Jamaican restaurant near Baruch?
I used to have rice with oxtail at a restaurant near my job in the Bronx...they were absolutely the best Jamaican food I had and affordable. I eat the same rice and oxtail for a whole year...(changing to chicken curry or fish sometime)...but you got the idea how good it was.
The guy sold the store and moved somewhere. And I haven't got my oxtail fix since then

I want to try a Shake Shack (Madison Square Park). Whenever I'm passing by there is a huge line over there. It must be delicious :)

People tell me the place that offers the best value is Jimmy's (no relation to me). It's a Chinese place on 26th Street right next to the Vertical Campus.

Agree. For $5, they give you heap load of food.

Now, they even have Mike's shake for $2.75. That's lot of shaking for so little money.
