There is an orientation a week and a half before the fall semester starts. Cathy organizes it for the entire Weissman School.

As an international student. how much should I budget for my living for the entire Baruch program. I don't intend to work part-time in US. Please advise.

Kevin,
Welcome to Quantnet. I feel your question is more appropriate asked in the general forum. I'll make a thread there for you.
Regards,
Hey Andy,
I really love the interactions within Baruch community. If Dan accepts me next year, I have no hesitation to put my saving for a trip Baruch and to make my American dream.
Cheers,
Kel

Wait, so you are not accepted and headed to Baruch this Fall? If so, take this opportunity to learn about the program and prepare for the application. Goodluck and apply early. The competition will be tough next year.

Andy

Common sense and this year stat.
As more and more people find out about the FE field, the number of applicants will increase greatly. And as Baruch is more well known among international students (as well as domestic students), it's harder to get into Baruch.
This year the number of applicants to Baruch jumped 40% since last year. It's a HUGE increase. It will only go up as reputation of Baruch grows on boards such as this one and Global Derivatives.
As you can see, it's all set up for a much more competitive field next year. Already, Baruch raised the entrance requirement last year and I don't see why it won't do it again in the near future.

Has everyone received the letter from Baruch regarding the orientation? The orientation this year will be held on Tues, 8/1/06 at 3:30pm in room 14-250. After that, we will register for the fall class. Make sure your residency and immunization papers cleared before you go to the orientation because they won't let you register if it's not.

I tried to call Cathy to RSVP for orientation but she is on vacation until July 11. Should we call someone else or wait until she gets back?
Thanks,
Chris

I haven't received it yet.
How do you verify that your imminization papers have cleared?
Chris,
You can email her to RSVP. She will have you on record when she gets back.
Alain,
The letter dated June 21 and I received it last week. They send out this letter to everyone admitted to the Weissman in the Fall. There will be advisors from each dept available to advise and we will register for classes and pay during that time. You have up to 5 business days after that to pay your tuition or your classes will be cancelled.
As for the immunization, call the number on the immunization form to inquire your status. The last time I checked, my SSN is not in the system yet so I'll check back this Thurs.

I got the letter.

the letter raises some questions for me:
It states that I need to get immunization: I did this once I was accepted so I'm assumming they dont want me to do it again
It states that you will have a chance to pay tuition on 8/1: does this mean I need to have picked classes and registered by that time? Normaly, one woudn't be expected to pay until that was done.
It starts at 3:30pm - not very accomodating to part-time students / full-time workers but I guess I should be used to things like that by now.
It states that I need to get immunization: I did this once I was accepted so I'm assumming they dont want me to do it againThis means you have to show the proof that you took the necessary shots. If not, you have to get shot by the Health dept of Baruch.

I think you will register for class during the orientation. We all know what classes we will take so it's just a matter of filling some form and have them enter into the computer. You can pay that day till 6pm or up to 5 days after that. If you fail to pay, your registration will be canceled.
This is typically how I've been doing registration for my students and it's pretty standard across CUNY.

Just to tell you all. I faxed my immunization in and called them up this afternoon. They received my immunization and they had my ID in the system so its probably up for everyone else.
Thanks,
Chris

Call the phone number that Andy posted. The person on the Medical Records office is on vacation but some other guy was able to help me out. My immunization records are in.
Just called in and they were able to check with my SSN. My immunization is cleared, my name is in computer system. I'm set to register for the fall.
